Hello everyone. I am hair stylist Sejla Jahic and owner of SJ Hair Studio, originally from a beautiful country called Bosnia and Herzegovina. As a 13 year old girl in 1992, I left my country as did many others due to the genocide occurring against the country’s people.

Escaping to Safety

For the following years, my family and I settled first in Austria, then Germany and in the USA. If someone told me prior to all of this that i will be living in all those countries, having to adapt, adjust to a new life and learn a new language each time, I would have told them they were crazy. Why would I want to go through all of that?

We were fortunate to be able to escape the genocide done to our country, but life wasn’t always easy. Bosnian people, myself included, are extremely hardworking, and stubborn, we will get what we want, eventually, even if it takes us years and years to accomplish it. We don’t give up easily. I guess we learned that throughout our life time experience. Nothing was given to you, you had to work twice as hard as other people to get what you want.

A Passion for Hair Design

My passion for hair started in Germany, as I chose to work in a hair salon during a summer. From that point on I knew that this would be my career. When a few years later we had to once again move, this time to the USA, I had to start all over again. It took me few years to get back on the path of my career dream but I never gave up because I knew this is what I wanted to do.

Opening My Own Hair Salon

My passion for hair gave me the strength to get back on the path. After 14 years of working in the hair industry in the USA, I decided to open my own small hair salon. It was a dream come true. Possibilities are endless, patience is the key to success.
